Zekreet

Zekreet are the ruins of a desert fortress that dates back to the early 18th century. They are located on the sandy beach of the Zikrit Bay, approximately 10 km from the town of Dukhan , Qatar . The area surrounding Zekreet is an exceptional area rich in prehistoric sites and remains of settlements. The original fort was a simple square building with four towers at the corners. During the rebuilding of Zekreet, additional outer towers were built, but they have never been finished. The outer walls with the towers and a very well preserved madabes - a facility for the preparation of traditional Qatar meal, survived until these days.
