The Wuyi Mountains are a mountain range in China
. They are located in the southern part of the country, in the north of Fujian Province, southwest of the city of Chongcheng. The region of the Wuyi Mountains cover an area of 60 km². They are important mainly for their diversity of species. We can find here many relicts as well as original species, many of whom are endemic. We can also visit here the ruins of many ancient and medieval churches and monasteries built in the period from the 7th to 11th centuries. In those times Neo-Confucianism strongly influenced the culture of East Asia. In the 1st century AD, the administrative centre of the region was Chengcun, which still is a place of great archaeological importance. The Wuyi Mountains have been registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1999.
