Tourist information and destination rating

Category: Region, Local time: 14:51:25

East Anglia, the region of eastern England, is a very popular tourist area around Norwich, Ipswich and Cambridge, which is its center. The typical countryside is quite known from the artwork by the painter Constable, and even today there are the windmills, churches and medieval barns. Bird reserves in North Norfolk, seal colonies and great opportunities for punting (e.g.on the River Cam in Cambridge) make the region very attractive especially for people who prefer nature to sightseeing. East Anglia is the driest and sunniest region in Britain, by the way. The local architecture varies from a mixture of medieval to very modern. There are typical pink-washed cottages in Suffolk, flint cottages in Norfolk and thatched roofs - just everywhere. If you decide to take a North Norfolk coastal tour, do not skip the lavender fields at Caley Mill, Hunstanton Cliffs, Lord Nelson pub near Burnham Market or "seals and sea bird watching in Blakeney Marshes.
