Warsaw Uprising Monument comes from the year 1989. Its authors were Wincenty Kuchma and Jacek Budyn. The sculpture represents two groups of soldiers. One group are defenders on the barricades. The second group is entering into a sewer (during the revolt, the rebels used to move inside the Warsaw sewer system) . Warsaw Uprising Monument is the place where the president of the Federal Republic of Germany, Richard Herzog, apologized to Polish people for the fact that Germany began the Second World War, and for the bloody suppression of the Warsaw Uprising.
