The oldest tree of Waipoua Forest is more than 1500 years old, and it is called Tane Mahuta - the Lord of the Forest. Tane Mahuta is 51 m high, its perimeter is 14 m, and its volume is 244.5 cubic metres. It takes five minutes from the parking lot to get to the oldest and largest tree in Waipoua Forest. In addition to these majestic trees, there are about 300 different species of trees, palms and ferns.
