Valence is a commune in south-eastern France . It is located in the eastern part of the country, in the region of Rhône-Alpes, approximately 40 km from the city of Montélimar , world-famous for production of praline. At present, Valence has a population of 65 thousand. It is very attractive for tourists because there are numerous historical monuments and very pleasant cafés and restaurants.

The railway station and the information centre is at Parvis de la Gare. The new railway station, now used for TGV trains too, is located some 10 km to the north-east from the centre of the city, near the road to Romans. If you decide to travel by plane, you can use the international airport in Grenoble (Grenoble-Isère Airport) , which is about 70 km far from Valence, or the international airport in Lyon (Lyon Saint Exupéry Airport) , which is approximately 100 km far from Valence, or the airport in Nîmes (130 km) .

There are other places of interest in Valence, for example, the Renaissance palace called Maison des Têtes at Grande rue 57 and the palace Maison Dupré-Latour at rue Pérollerie. When you come to the square des Ormeaux, you can visit the Musée de Valence that presents a collection of artistic pieces created by local artists and several archaeological findings from the surroundings.
