It extends 5 km deep into the earth. There are several trails of various lengths around Uluru. A lot of rock art paintings and sacred places separated from the surroundings with fence can be found along the trails. The Uluru monolith has a great religious importance to aborigine people (the Anangas) . This sandstone formation is much as 600 million years old. The Uluru National Park including Uluru sandstone monolith has been inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987..
