Trzesacz is a picturesque little village in the northwest of Poland in the West Pomerania Province, on the coast of the Baltic Sea. The village is attractive for tourists for two reasons. The first is the unique ruins of a Gothic church. The second is perfect conditions for nice holiday.

History

The village Trzesacz, as well as the surrounding area has always been under the influence of the historic region of Pomerania. Until the end of the Second World War it was a part of Germany . Due to maritime trade it was a very rich region. The brick architecture was the leading and typical style for the coast of the North and the Baltic Seas. After the Second World War, the region got under the Polish administration.

The Ruins

It is considered to be the only but very attractive monument of Trzesacz. The brick church comes from the late fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. From the beginning it was a Catholic church, later it was passed onto the Protestants. Shortly after the end of the construction the distance of the church from the sea was about two kilometres. However, as the result of geological processes over the years, the water got to the close proximity of the church, installed on the little hill at the very edge of the sea. Due to the proximity to the sea, one side of the church collapsed.

The Resort

The main reason why the village of Trzesacz became so popular are excellent conditions for seaside tourism. The Baltic Sea does not belong to the warmest destinations -anyway, swimming in the sea is a great experience. There is a very attractive beach directly under the ruins of the Gothic church, which is truly majestic. Trzesacz offers a variety of accommodation facilities, and if you get tired of swimming and hiking, you can set out to explore the nearby town Gryfice , the center of the region.
