People who seek for cultural events may want to visit a performance in the Teatro Verdi, built in 1798. Trieste is famous for festivals, for example, the Festa dei Turisti, which takes place at the end of August.

Trieste is proud of its technical curiosity, the Opicina Tramway, which was first set into operation in 1902 already. The historic tramway operates between Trieste and the village of Opicina.
