Titisee is a lake in the southern part of the Black Forest (Schwarzwald) , in Germany
. It is situated in the state Baden-Württemberg. On the banks of Titisee stands the well-known spa town Titisee-Neustadt
. Reportedly, the lake got its name after the Roman Emperor Titus. Titisee covers an area of 1.3 km², and its average depth is 20 m. The maximum depth of the lake is 40 m. Titisee lies at an altitude of 840 m. The Seebach River flows into Titisee, while the river Gutah flows out of it. In the past, Titisee served as a small airport in winter. However, due to an accident in 1980 during which a tractor maintaining the landing area fell into the lake, it was no longer used for these purposes. Nowadays, it is one of the most popular destinations in the area around the town Titisee-Neustadt
. There are countless bars and restaurants along the lake in summer. Boat, pedal boat and bicycle rentals are also available. The surroundings of the lake are ideal for cycling.
