Architectural curiosities
The Texas State Capitol’s plan was designed by architect Myers and was built in years 1882 - 1888. The architecture of the Capitol is based on the Italian style of the 15th century. It is appreciated for its symmetric shapes, simplicity and even proportions. The dominant of the capitol is a dome with inner and outer vaults and a colonnade. It is mostly built from limestone and the facade is made of pink granite. It stands on one of the highest points in Austin .Tourist information and destination rating
