Te Waikoropupu Springs Scenic Reserve was in the past used for performing Maori ceremonies. The reservation is located in a beautiful forest with several maintained hiking trails which will take you to the springs. The best way to observe the springs is through a large periscope on a viewing platform. The next interesting trail in Te Waikoropupu Springs Scenic Reserve is the Pupu Walkway which leads along a canal built by gold-diggers, and which is used today for power production.
