Te Waikoropupu Springs Scenic Reserve is a nature reserve on the South Island of New Zealand
. It is located northwest of Takaka
, in the north of the island. Te Waikoropupu Springs Scenic Reserve is an area with extremely clear water which springs from an underground cave system. This cave system is connected with the caves on the Takaka Hill and in the Riwaka Resurgence. Te Waikoropupu Springs Scenic Reserve was in the past used for performing Maori ceremonies. The reservation is located in a beautiful forest with several maintained hiking trails which will take you to the springs. The best way to observe the springs is through a large periscope on a viewing platform. The next interesting trail in Te Waikoropupu Springs Scenic Reserve is the Pupu Walkway which leads along a canal built by gold-diggers, and which is used today for power production. The trail is approximately 3 km long.
