Tarawa is the capital of Kiribati . It lies on the largest coral island of the archipelago. The town has approximately 30 000 inhabitants. Unfortunately, in the near future, local inhabitants will have to leave their homes. Due to global warming and rising of sea level, the islands gradually become uninhabitable. In 2008, the government of Kiribati formally requested Australia and New Zealand to accept its inhabitants.
