The most famous site is a 1300 m long sandy beach with fine pebbles. Thanks to its location in a shallow bay, it is an ideal place for small children and the elderly. Unfortunately, it is quite narrow, and you will have to pay for entrance. Nevertheless, the beach is really clean. Visitors can also use the showers, but the lack of toilets causes some trouble. .
Transport
The best way to get to Sutomore is by air or by car. The Aerodrom Tivat airport is about 50 km away. From the airport you can get to the city either by bus or by a taxi. If you come here by car, it is advisable to choose the road E-65. Then, use the ferry from the Bay of Kotor , which leaves every 20 minutes during the day and costs 4 EUR. If you wish to visit the neighbouring towns and resorts, you can travel by bus (ticket costs 1 EUR) .Historical monuments
The major monuments of Sutomore include the Saint Tekla Church (Světa Tekla) , whose foundations allegedly come from the 8th century, and the ruins of the Monastery of Our Lady of Ratac (Bogorodica Ratačka) , that was supposedly built here in the 11th century. The preserved remains of the Venetian fortress Haj-Nehaj, built in the 15th century, stand on a 232 m high hill, approximately 3 km from Sutomore. The fort hides the Chapel of St. Demetrius with two altars - one for the Orthodox and one for the Roman Catholic believers. Last but not least, the Turkish fortress Tabija standing on the top of Golobrdo is also a popular site.Activities
The already mentioned Sutomore beach in the south-east continues as the Zlatna Obala (Gold Coast) , which is 850 m long and has golden sand. Supposedly, the composition of this sand helps to treat rheumatic problems. There is a popular naturist beach at Cape Ratac. Behind the cape spreads the Red Beach with red sand and pebbles. The lovers of history will surely enjoy the 100 m long, rocky Maljevik Beach where under the water, close to the coast we can still see the remains of ancient buildings.Tourist Service & Entertainment
Those who do not enjoy lying on the beach all day long, can play tennis, volleyball and bowling in Sutomore. Visitors can also rent a pedal boat or a jet ski. They can also spend a nice day on a cruise along the Montenegrin coast. A day trip costs about 10 EUR. If you seek night entertainment, you should visit the local promenade full of cafés, bars, restaurants, discos and clubs. Everyone will find a suitable entertainment, the young and the elderly, too. Various bands and DJ's play here. Most of the local hotels organize discos, too. The main promenade is lined with shops and stores with various goods and excellent restaurants with seafood. There is also an information centre and an ATM, the only one in the region. Sutomore has currently about 6,000 inhabitants.
