The Summer Palace in Beijing is the former residence of the Chinese emperors in China . It stands in the country's capital Beijing , on the shores of the artificially built Kunming Lake. Summer Palace in Beijing was built in the first half of the 18th century. However approximately 100 years later, it was destroyed, so it had to be built again. The vast area around the palace hides temples, pavilions, halls, garden houses, bridges and the largest park in the world. It was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1998.
