St. Barbara´s Cathedral, built in the late Gothic style, is consecrated to St. Barbara, the patroness of miners. The construction work was commenced in 1388, in the period of the boom of Kutná Hora which was initiated by silver mining. The design of the cathedral is the work of several significant architects - Jan Parléř, Matěj Rejsek and Benedikt Rejt. St. Barbara´s Cathedral was not finished until the 19th century. Along with the historic center the town Kutná Hora and the Baroque Cathedral of St. Marie in Sedlec, the St. Barbara´s Cathedral has been registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1995.
