The bay is truly exceptional as there are hot thermal springs that flow out right in the sea. Due to the specific shape of the bay Sorgeto, and also because of fallen rocks something that could be called "natural bathtubs" was created: in the recesses, the thermal and the sea water is blended and the result is a unique natural spa resort. The water in the Sorgeto bay is pleasant - warm - around the year and offers extraordinary opportunities for relaxation. Anyway, in the Sorgeto bay you should not expect sand beach - the shore is formed of rock, stones and pebbles. Punta Chiarito, the highest point above the Sorgeto bay, is a significant archaeological site which is well-known by unique findings. They clearly show that Ischia was one of early Greek colonies.
You can access the Sorgeto bay either on foot from the square in the town of Panza if you head to the south and climb more than 200 steps, or you can take a "water taxi" from St. Angelo. Due to its location, separated from busy tourist centres, the Sorgeto bay is the best place for relaxation of the body and the mind as well.
