Skadar is a town in Albania located in the northwest part of the country in Skadar region. It is situated close to the state border on the bank of well known
Skadarske lake . The town was founded in 4th century BC. Skadar has got wide streets built during communist era of Enver Hodzha. On the rock above the town there is
fortress Rozafat , remains of old churches and mosques. Unique building is also an old stone bridge. Drin river, one of the most important Albanian rivers, flows through Skadar, which is a center of Skadar district as well. As one of a few towns in the country Skadar is still connected with Crna Gora by a railway. Currently Skadar has got approximately 90 thousand inhabitants.
