The Sign Post Forest is a collection of sign posts in Yukon, in the city Watson Lake on the road known as the Alaska Highway . The Sign Post Forest was established in 1942, when a soldier installed at the site a sign post which was reading the distance from his native town. The other soldiers then followed him, and the tradition has survived until the present time. People who pass the Sign Post Forest place a sign with the name and the distance of their city. Up to now, there are up to 65,000 signs. That is why the Sign Post Forest is one of the most famous attractions on Alaska Highway .
