Šid is a town in the southwestern part of Vojvodina, in Serbia . According to the archaeological findings, the area had already been inhabited in the prehistoric times. It is estimated that the first settlement was established here in the 16th century, on the ancient trade route. The picturesque surroundings of Šid offer interesting possibilities for holidays and recreation. It lies near the mountain Fruška Gora , close to the borders with Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina .
