Shikina-en
Shikina-en is a garden with a residence in Japan . It was established on the island of Okinawa during the era of Ryūkyū Kingdom. Shikina-en covers an area of 41 997 m2, and it is a valuable example of Ryūkyūan garden architecture. It was built in 1799 in the modern Japanese garden style. A pond and two bridges leading to a Chinese style island also belong to the garden. It served as a resting place for the royal family, and as a welcoming place of the ambassadors from China . Shikina-en was registered on UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000.
