The Sagarmatha National Park is a mountain protected area and the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Nepal
. It is situated in the eastern part of the country. The most distinctive landmark in the park is Mount Everest
, the highest mountain on the planet, which - along with other adjacent summits, deep mountain valleys and magnificent glaciers, forms spectacular sceneries. There are several rare animal species in the locality, for example, the snow leopard or the panda (Ailurus fulgens) .
About the Sagarmatha National Park
The Sagarmatha National Park was founded on the 19th July 1976. It occupies an area of 1148 km2. It is elevated from 2845m to 8848m above sea. It was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.
