Slawkow Castle was built in the end of the 13th century. It was important for the strategical defense of the city and its surroundings. It was especially meant to protect the road to an important city called Kraków . Later a residential building was built next to the castle. In the 15th century, the castle was conquerred and damaged several times. It was never sufficiently reconstructed or repaired. It remains abandonned since the 16th century. In the western part of the castle, a bishop's court was later constructed. To this day several fragments were preserved like the first floor of a tower, part of the bulwarks with an entrance gate and part of the castle moat.
