A glance at the history of Ruse
Ruse is a city with a very rich history. In the 19th century, Ruse was considered the wealthiest Bulgarian city. In 1866 the first Bulgarian railway was built between Varna and Ruse. In addition, Ruse is the place where the very first Bulgarian newspaper was published, and also the place connected with the first maritime school and the first meteorological centre in Bulgaria.UNESCO monuments and other attractions in Ruse
The most significant monuments are the archaeological /ivanovski-manastir-2354213.htm Rock-hewn Churches of Ivanovo (it is on the UNESCO list of World Heritage) , the archaeological site Cherven, the wooden park Lipnik, the Orlova Chuka Cave and the Basarbovo Monastery that is located in the valley of the Lom River.
