The Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew were founded in 1759. They are located between Richmond and Kew in southwest London. Kew Gardens represent development of garden architecture from the 18th to the 20th century. Their collections contributed to development of botanics and ecology. In the gardens, there is a number of buildings by famous architects from the whole world. In July 2003, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew were added to the UNESCO list. Kew Gardens is a leading centre of botanical research, a training ground for professional gardeners as well as a visitor attraction.
