Rio Camuy Cave Park

Up to now, 16 entrance points have been discovered. The whole underground system in the Rio Camuy Cave Park is approximately 11 kilometres long. The part accessible to the public, designed for guided tours, is much shorter, of course. The tour lasts about 1.5 hours and it includes a movie about the nature park. The guides speak English or Spanish. The Rio Camuy Cave Park is known worldwide as the destination recommendable for professional and amateur speleology. The caves, in particular the Cathedral Cave, Resurgencia Cave, Yuyú Cave or Spiral Cave are offered by travel agencies in their products specialised in speleology. It is said that the caves in the Rio Camuy Cave Park are the home for colonies of approximately half a million of bats. The bats are inoffensive and most of the day they sleep. You can relax in the Rio Camuy Cave Park, too, as the place offers pavilions for picnicking, children playgrounds and a small restaurant. In summer, you can use the campsite ($4 per person) . The Rio Camuy Cave Park is open around the year, from Wednesday to Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except important bank holidays. The last guided tour to the caves Rio Camuy Cave Park begins at 3.50 p.m. and the tours are not available anymore on a particular day if the daily acceptable capacity of 1500 visitors has been achieved. Admission: adults $7, children (aged 2-12) $7, senior citizens (aged 65-74) $5. Admission for senior citizens aged 75+ is free. Parking fees:$ 3 per day.
