The Quba Mosque is the oldest mosque in Saudi Arabia . It was established on the order of the Prophet Muhammad, after his departure from Mecca in 622. The Quba Mosque is located in the city of Medina , near the legendary Al-Masjid al-Nabawi. In 1986, the mosque was demolished and replaced by a new building. The Quba Mosque is a two-storey building with a prayer hall around a central courtyard with six domes. The 6 gates are located on the northern, eastern and western sides of the complex. The Quba Mosque is crowned by four minarets with square foundations. The complex further includes residential areas, offices, shops and a library.
