In 1748, the town became the center of the German colonization in the area. The colonists, most of them from southern Germany , became the ethnic majority in the town. At the end of the Second World War, the Yugoslavian partisans revenged themselves on the German population of Prigrevica and murdered many of them. After the Second World War ended, Prigrevica was inhabited mostly by the Serbians from the regions Lika and Banija in Croatia ..
