Preah Ko (The Sacred Bull) is a Hindu temple devoted to the ancestors of the Khmer royal family. It stands in the province Roluos, in Cambodia
, approximately 10 km from the city Siem Reap
. Preah Ko derives its name from the statues of sacred bulls in the central tower. They show Nandi bull serving the god Shiva. Preah Ko was established during the reign of King Indravarman I at the end of the 9th century. The temple complex is composed of six brick towers built on a sandstone terrace. The main tower of Preah Ko stands in the centre, and it is dedicated to Jayavamana II, the founder of the Khmer Empire.
