They all are decorated with ebony, precious wood and leather. The castle rooms are lined with Persian carpets and old weapons from the Renaissance period. The Peles Castle is proud of a collection of copies of Rembrandt and Canalett paintings which are now kept at the National Museum of Art in Bucharest . During the communist rule, the castle was a private residence of the dictator Ceausescu, who would use it for representative purposes. .
