Ngorongoro is the largest crater in the world. An important nature reserve is situated on its territory. Ngorongoro is located in Tanzania , in the northern part of the country, 180 km west of Arusha . It is an untouched territory that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978. The local fauna and flora are very rich. We can see here, for example lions, cheetahs and other rare animals. The access to the park is strictly monitored. People can visit the park only after a previous checking. Ngorongoro covers an area of 260 km2, and is about 600 m deep. The crater was created by an eruption of a volcano, which initially reached a height of 4500-6000 m. An interesting fact about Ngorongoro is that traces of hominidae were found here, which are 2.5 million years old.
