Museum of War Prisoner Camps in Zagan was established in 1971 at the site of the former Second World War concentration camp Kriegsgefangenen Stammlager der Luftwaffe 3 Sagan. It has to remind torture of allied prisoners of war and their courageous efforts to escape from captivity. It is interesting that the history of various labor and prison-of-war camps in Zagan is very rich. Their origin dates back to 1813. Museum of War Prisoner Camps in Zagan presents the history of the local camps, shows the every-day life of prisoners, and a part of the exhibition is dedicated to the Poles, who had to work in local camps. There are also regularly held various temporary exhibitions. The museum also offers a documentary film in different languages, you can see the monuments, the Harrego tunnel exit replica, the replica of a watch tower and various remains of buildings, fences, etc. In the camp there are two marked hiking trails that pass through the war cemeteries.
Museum of War Prisoner Camps in Zagan is open daily except Mondays. It is open from Tuesday to Friday 10 to 16 hours. At weekends it is open 10 to 17 hours. Admission is free.
