The Museum of Catalonian History takes up four floors of the only preserved building of the ancient Barcelona port. Two floors show an exposition on the history of Catalonia from the Paleolith times to present. Artifacts that recall important events in Catalonia and the daily life of Catalonian ancestors are on display. The exposition is divided by 8 different periods. Many of the exhibits are interactive. One part of the exposition is dedicated to the modern formation of the "Catalonian nation". The remaining parts of the Museum of Catalonian History host several temporary expositions and comprise an auditorium, a café with a patio, a restaurant and a library.
