Mount Bromo

Mount Bromo is an active volcano in Indonesia , situated in the eastern part of the island of Java. This is one of the most often visited places of the island. Mount Bromo is 2329 m high. Nearby, we can see other mountains: the Batok and the Kursi. All these peaks arose in the middle of the crater Tengger destroyed by an eruption. The bottom of the crater is now filled with sand. Mount Bromo still emits thick clouds of sulphury vapour. It erupts three times during a century at regular, thirty years intervals. The last eruption was recorded in 2004.
