Morske oko was formed by landslide of the eastern slope of Motrogon and Jedlinka. The landslide enclosed the valley of the Okno stream and created the natural lake Morske oko, which is approximately 750 m long and 25 – 28 metres deep. It is supplied by 6 streams while only one stream, the Okno, flows out.
Swimming, fishing or canoeing in Morske oko is forbidden. However, the beautiful woods and the region around the lake is a wonderful destination for hiking. Tourists usually head to the hill called Sninský kámen (Snina Stone) , some 4 km far from Morske oko, to enjoy splendid views of Vihorlat forests and the East Slovakian Valley.
