The Monterey Bay Aquarium presents exhibitions that consist of more than 600 species of plants and animals. The sea park is divided into several parts. The first part of the Monterey Bay Aquarium is dedicated to the coastal waters of the Pacific. Sharks and other fishes swim in a forest of 5-meters long seaweed plants. The second part presents life on the sea bottom and sandy beaches. The only mammals in the aquarium are sea otters, which you can see in the third part of the park. Visitors can discover the life in the depths of the ocean in a large aquarium, the biggest attraction of the park. The last part of the Monterey Bay Aquarium is dedicated to coral reefs and sea life in tropical waters. The sea park in the city Monterey was opened in 1984. Its main mission is the protection of oceans and sea wildlife research. The Monterey Bay Aquarium cooperates with the research institute MBARI. The aquarium is a part of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is specialized in protection of big white sharks. A special method of their safe capture, transport, life in captivity and consequent release back to the ocean was developed there..
