Mikulov Castle is located in the south of the Czech Republic , in the town Mikulov , not far from the Austrian border. Mikulov Castle was originally a castle built in the second half of the 13th century. From that time, various equipment has been preserved, e.g. a gate carved into a rock, a part of an octagonal turret, a castle chapel and a cylindrical tower. more »

During the reign of Premysl Otakar II, the Lichtensteins gained the Mikulov Castle. At that time Mikulov Castle was their main residence. In 1719 Mikulov Castle was burned down and after the reconstruction it gained its present look. The castle burned down again at the end of the Second World War II in Europe, in 1945, when the German army was retreating. It was reconstructed in the 1950s. Currently, the premises are used by the Regional Museum of Mikulov. Mikulov Castle is open to public from April to October, from Tuesday to Sunday..
