Mexcaltitan Island is a small artificial island, a part of the state of Nayarit in Mexico . The island is accessible by boat from the port of La Batanza. It is surrounded by canals with dense mangrove forests. From September to December, the streets are flooded and you can move from house to house only in the boat. The Mexcaltitan Island is nicknamed the Island of Shrimps.
