Masterton is the largest town in the region Wairarapa, New Zealand . It spreads in the southern part of the North Island, between Wellington and Palmerston North . Masterton is famous especially for its annual sheep shearing competition - the Golden Shears. The Lake Park was opened in 1988. The park has artificial lakes that are regularly filled with trouts. Close to the centre of Masterton spreads another beautiful park - the Queen Elizabeth Park. The trees growing here were planted in 1877. There is also a pond allowing boat riding. We can find here an aquarium, an aviary and a deer-park, too. The next interesting site in Masterton is the Hood Aerodrome - a skydiving training centre, where you can arrange a flight in a historic aircraft.
