There are various legends connected with the statue of the little boy. The statue is located 240 meters southwest from the town square La Grand-Place . Originally, there used to be a stone statue in 15th century, which was replaced by the bronze one in 1619. Its author is the Flemish Baroque sculptor Jerome Duquesnoy. At special cultural events which take place in the city, the statue of the boy is dressed in various costumes - in fact, the Manneken Pis has more than 700 costumes!
