A little bit of history

The oldest settlement in the area dates back to the Celtic era. The city further developed during the Roman rule when a fortified camp was built there. The founding of the city dates back to the 13th century. In the Middle Ages, Manchester was an important center of crafts and trade. The city's greatest boom came in the 18th and 19th century, when the first factories processing cotton were built. Manchester played a major role in the Industrial Revolution in England .

Monuments

There are many monuments in the city of Manchester, the most significant of which is the gothic Manchester Cathedral. Its construction lasted over 600 years. The tourist may also visit many galleries and museums, such as the Manchester Art Gallery, which features the masterpieces of English masters, the Salford Museum and the Art Gallery offering the collection of the most famous local artist L.S. Lowry. Other galleries and museums worth seeing: the Chinese Arts Centre, Manchester Jewish Museum, the Manchester Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry, etc.
