The Malacanang Palace was built in 1802 by a Spanish aristocrat named Luis Rocha. By the end of the 19th century, it became the official residence of the Governor of the Philippines . In 1900 the Malacanang Palace has been extended, and later in 1935 it became the official residence of the President of the Philippines .
The Malacanang Palace is not only the royal residence, it is also the official office of the President. In 1986, a museum was opened in one of the buildings of this complex. The Malacanang Palace is an ostentatious Spanish colonial building with arches, terraces and balconies.
