Airplanes over the Maho Beach
The Princess Juliana International Airport has only a 2180 m long runway, so the planes have to fly very low over the beach. They pass at the altitude of only 10 - 20 m above the Maho Beach. The planes create artificial waves, which are often appreciated by surfers. There is even a no-trespass area in one part of the beach because the jets of the engines could blow you into the sea and kill you. Watching the planes at the Maho Beach is so popular that you can find departure and arrival schedule in most of the local bars and restaurants. About the beach
The Maho Beach is a beautiful sandy beach and can boast azure blue sea. The most popular bar on the whole beach is the Sunset Beach Bar. There are many other pleasant beach bars. In the area further from the runway, there are deckchairs and parasols available to the visitors.Tourist information and destination rating
