Loulé - hotels

Loulé, Portugal, is situated in the district of the same name, app. 20 km (13mi) from Faro. It is an important administrative center, also known for regular markets which attract to Loulé visitors from all over the Algarve. The most distinctive town's landmark is the market hall (Mercado municipal) built in the classic Moorish style. Unfortunately, most of the oldest historic buildings were destroyed by the earthquake of 1755 so you can only see remains of the former Arab castle and the Gothic Church of St. Clemente. However, there are still valuable sites like the pilgrimage church of Nossa Senhora de Piedade or the city museum with unique archaeological findings (Museu Municipal de Arqueologia de Loulé) and, of course, there are beautiful beaches, e.g. De Vale do Garrao Beach or Inatel Beach which offer excellent conditions for bathing and relaxation.
