Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, a popular tourist region whose major part is occupied by the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, spreads in the south of Scotland. It was given the status of the national park in 2002. The area, only forty minutes from Glasgow, and ninety minutes from Edinburgh, offers excellent conditions for outdoor activities - low level and hill walking, cycling, boating, golf, wildlife watching, as well as canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing and mountain biking. Biggest attractions are Loch Katrin and the West Highland Way which passes through the park, as well as the mountains of Ben Lomond, and the Cobbler in the Arrochar Alps.
