Lalbagh Fort, also known as Fort Aurangabad, is a palace fortress. It lies on the Buriganga River in Dhaka , Bangladesh . Lalbagh Fort was founded in 1678, on the command of Prince Muhammad Azam. Lalbagh Fort was considered only a small complex of three buildings: a mosques, the tomb of the emperor's daughter Iran Dukht and the fortifications, of which only a part of the walls and two gates have been preserved. more »

Recent studies have revealed the remains of other buildings such as roof gardens, fountains and drains. The current size of Lalbagh Fort thus expanded to 73 000 m2. The main attraction of Lalbagh Fort is the tomb of Iran Dukht. The square room with the remains is tiled with white marble, and it is surrounded by eight chambers. The corners of the room are decorated with tiles of floral design. Thanks to the new archaeological discoveries, Lalbagh Fort become an attractive and frequently visited tourist destination..
