Tourist information and destination rating

Category: National parks, Local time: 06:49:40, Altitude: 364m

The Lake District National Park in northern England and southern Scotland has absolutely everything which mountain regions may boast - tall, steep peaks, deepest valleys and largest and deepest lakes in the country such as Wast Water, as well as romantic and mysterious localities you may remember from the books by Arthur Ransome. For example, Wild Cat Island is at Coniston, Rio may be Bowness-on-Windermere. Best starting points for trips are Keswick and Ambleside but very good hotels can be found in the region of Windermere.
