. The park was founded in 1937. The Lagunas de Chacahua National Park covers an area of 132.73 km². Large part of the area is taken up by lagoons: Laguna de Chacahua, Pastoria de La Laguna, Laguna Las Salinas and several smaller lagoons. The Lagunas de Chacahua National Park protects several types of vegetation such as swamps, savannas, deciduous forests, etc. The great diversity of plants and animals is represented for example by storks, herons, wild ducks, wild ducks, pelicans, crocodiles, turtles and others.
