The La Macarena National Park spreads in the heart of the mountains Serranía de La Macarena, in the Amazon and Orinoco regions of Colombia . This is the first national reserve in Colombia . The La Macarena National Park was declared in 1971. La Macarena covers an area of about 6200 km². The park is characterized by high biodiversity with many endemic species.
