The middle floor of the caves was discovered first, in 1950. The Koněprusy Caves were opened to the public in 1959. The upper floor of the caves is the smallest, while the middle floor is the largest. The bottom floor of the caves is inaccessible to the public. The Koněprusy Caves were created by rain water penetrating through chimneys and cracks. The water gradually dissolved the limestone, and it has created beautiful karst formations. A unique feature worth seeing is the Koněprus Rosette with opal. In addition, a large amount of animal and human bones of Homo sapiens (about 13 000 years old) were found in the complex of the caves. During the tour, visitors passes through a series of underground domes decorated by beautiful stalactite formations.
